#BartowCares4U ACCEPTANCE
Rejection. Just this one word can bring up negative
memories and feelings. What about the word Accepted? Have you
experienced it? To be liked for ME and not be written off, even if I mess
up, No one is trying to change me—instead, they love me for me. That’s
what we’re going to focus on this month as we look deeper at the need
of acceptance!
Share Your Story—Remember a time when someone gave YOU
acceptance. Think about a time when someone gave you a second
chance or someone liked you even though you were different than
them. Text this person and tell them why you are grateful. After you
have messaged them, have a conversation with a friend, teacher, or
mentor about this memory.

#BartowCares4U ENCOURAGEMENT
People have a lot of talents that they’re known for, but what
are you known for? Do people know you as being an encouraging
person? It takes looking at all the relationships around us and giving
encouragement to others when we see they need it. We have to be
intentional to see the dreams and goals of others and then give
encouragement to them. This week look around you and be sure to
give encouragement!
• Set a calendar reminder for the important days related to your
friend’s goal(s). Plan to send a text or call at each milestone.
• Invite a friend to grab lunch. Share words of encouragement
during the meal.
• Listen for moments when family members need encouragement.
It might sound something like this: “I know it seems hard right
now, but I’m confident you can do this. I believe in you and your
ability!”
• Send a handwritten note to a teacher or coach giving them
encouragement. An example may be, “I know we have some
challenges this time of year, but you’ve got this!”
• Give out encouraging notes to service providers in your
community. (I.e., “I see how hard you’re working and know there
are good things ahead for you.” Or “You’ve got what it takes to do
this job!”)

As you know the program Shop with A Hero helps
underprivileged elementary students go Holiday
shopping. The majority of the money is used to buy needs with a small amount used to buy wants. The Heroes typically take 300 children shopping, as this may be the only Christmas they get this year.
They need help to fulfill these needs. Let's help them make it a good one! The county is asking every school to raise
money to help with this.
We would like to see a great turn out from our school! We may be small, but we can and have done some great things. Classroom and club coin drives, whatever ideas you can come up with to raise some money, will help first
responders, help these children.
If you would like to help, please stop by the Bartow County College & Career Academy to make a donation and show your support!!!
All money collected is due by Monday, December 5th.
We are kicking off the 12 Days at the Academy today by sporting our red and green holiday spirit colors. The Christmas Break countdown has officially begun!
Happy Holidays from the BCCCA family!!!

#BartowCares4U ENCOURAGEMENT
“I believe in you!” All of us need someone who will take the time to cheer us on toward the goals we’ve set in life. That’s why this month we want to focus on the need of encouragement. Everyone has the potential to do great things, but to reach that potential, we need others to encourage us to never give up and to keep pursuing our goals and dreams!
Show You Care: Talk to a friend, teacher, or mentor about their need for encouragement. Try these words: “I’m trying to learn more about how to show encouragement. When has someone encouraged you towards a goal? What did they say to cheer you on? How did it make you feel and how did it keep you going?”
#BartowCares4U APPRECIATION
Do you like it when others notice the hard work you’ve put in for a project, in practice, or in being a good friend? Does it feel good to you when others recognize your effort? It’s important when we talk about appreciation to what it looks like and feels like for us to receive appreciation. See, we all have a need for appreciation, but we also have unique and personal ways we like for others to show it. Here are five unique dimensions of appreciation. Which one of these is most important to you?
• Share gratitude for my contributions and efforts through private and public affirmation.
• Communicate appreciation for what I do right more than criticism for what I do wrong.
• Go out of your way to thank me for my efforts, even when you have not directly benefited from my actions.
• Notice the special times in my life when I need to be acknowledged.
• Write notes to thank me for things I’ve done or the effort I made.
Show You Care: Post a video with a shout-out to the person who gave you appreciation in this personal way.
A BIG shout out to GA Power for donating a pallet of water to the BCCCA for the Reality Store Event!
THANK YOU!!!
#BartowCares4U APPRECIATION
“Hey, you did an awesome job on your project this week.” This month we are focusing on the relational need of appreciation and how we all need to hear thanks and gratitude for the effort that we give and the things we do. Often, we hear more criticism about the things that we don’t do right which doesn’t feel good. It just means to notice more of the good that someone does and less of the wrong. So, let’s talk about Appreciation.
Show You Care: Talk to a friend, teacher, or family member about their need for appreciation. Try these words: “I’m trying to learn more about how to show appreciation. When has someone thanked you or noticed and acknowledged your effort or accomplishment? What did they say and how did it make you feel?”

#BartowCares4U APPROVAL
What are you known for? Sports? Academics? Friends you have? What if you were known for giving approval to those around you? Becoming an approving person means showing approval in all relationships. Be intentional this week to show approval in each of these areas.
• Make an approval calendar. Each day, write down a positive character trait that you see in one of your friends. At the end of each week, celebrate those traits by sharing those with each friend.
• Give the Approval Date Night menu to your parents. Encourage them to use it!
• Notice when one of your teachers/administrators/coaches exhibits a great character quality. Take a selfie with them and tell them what character trait you noticed. Post it and brag on them publicly.
• Give out approving word cards to service workers in your community. (I.e., “Thanks for your diligence!” or, “You are dependable” or, “Your generosity is amazing!” or, “Your patience is incredible!”)
Let’s be known for more than what we do, but for who we are!

Both events are to help Hispanic, Latino, and native Spanish speakers better understand and improve college access and will be mostly in Spanish.
Parents are encouraged to attend. Childcare will be provided by qualified staff from St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and refreshments will be served.

APPROVAL
Practice, practice, practice! Practice doesn’t make perfect, but it does make us better! That applies to giving approval. We must be intentional to look around us and see the worth of others and affirm what we see. Whether they are a friend, family member, classmate, or teacher, who do you know that needs your approval?
Show You Care: Choose two people will you give more approval to this week.
• Who needs you to notice a positive character trait and talk to them privately? Name the quality and a time you’ve seen it displayed.
• Who has done great work recently? What character trait(s) did this person live out while accomplishing this task? Tell them about both.
• Who needs you to notice something that’s impressive or honorable? Who needs to be bragged on in front of others?
• Who needs a handwritten note of approval from you this week? Tell them how grateful you are to be their friend/family member.
Now let’s practice!

APPROVAL
What about you?! We all have a need for approval, but we also have unique and personal ways we like for others to show it. Here are five unique dimensions of approval. Which one of these is most important to you?
• Affirm me privately when you see me exhibiting a positive character quality.
• Look beyond the things I do/don’t do and affirm my character, heart, or maturity. Tell me something about myself that makes you grateful or proud of me.
• Be sure to notice when I have done something that is impressive or honorable. I especially like to be bragged on in front of others.
• Separate WHO I am from WHAT I do when you think of me/talk to me.
• Tell me how grateful you are to be in a relationship with me.
Remember when one person showed approval to you in the personal way you mentioned above. Text this person and let them know you are grateful for how they met this need. “It really meant a lot to me when you gave me approval. You did that when_____. Thank you!”

APPROVAL
We all have experienced the pain of someone making us feel unworthy or disliked. That is why we want to focus on the need of approval this month. Approval means building up or affirming the worth of another person, and sounds like, “I’m proud of you. You have such a kind heart. I’m impressed by you. I can’t imagine doing life without you!”
Show You Care: This week take time to talk to a friend about their need for approval. Learn what is important to them. Try these words: “I’m trying to learn more about how to become an approving person. When has someone built you up or bragged on you? What did they say and how did it make you feel?”
