FINISH STRONG!
The November ICARE Extraordinaire is awarded to Mr. Magee. As Mrs. Cox presents the trophy, here is what she had to say:
I am so thankful to Joe O’Shields for giving me ICARE Extraordinaire Award. It meant so much coming from him. Let me just say that man is the BEST paraprofessional I’ve ever worked with. He does so much more than any other than I’ve ever worked with.
It has been difficult deciding to whom to bestow this award. So many folks in the room are ones that I admire for a myriad of reasons—from their skill sets, to their passions, to their work ethic. But I had to decide. This educator has been like a sponge soaking up instructional strategies, literacy strategies and learning the PLC process. They embody ICARE on so many levels. They work after work hours and even on some weekends with their students to cultivate their skills and prepare them for competition and life after graduation. Additionally, he is building his program here at The Academy and within the community. This teacher is creating strong relationships with his students. He is a role model to many.
Congratulations, Mr. Greg Magee!
DON'T FORGET!!!

The Bartow County School Police is once again asking for your help in funding the 2023 Shop with a Hero program. The Shop with a Hero program provides approximately 300 underprivileged elementary-age children the opportunity to go Christmas shopping with someone from law enforcement, EMS, fire department, military, and educators. Each recipient is required to spend two-thirds of the money on clothing and or needs and one-third on whatever they choose. Additionally, approximately 200 gift cards will be sent to middle and high school students. All children selected to participate in this event are Bartow County residents chosen by Bartow County and Cartersville city school personnel.
This annual event is put on by the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office with the assistance of other agencies. It is scheduled to take place this year on Saturday, December 18, 2023. The Bartow County School Police is asking for each school to assist by raising at least $100.00 per school.
Last year was again a huge success; the Bartow County School system alone raised more than $13,000.00, more than doubling the previous year. We presented the HERO CUP to the elementary, middle, and high schools that raised the most money. Winners from last year were Adairsville Elementary with $2,940.66, Woodland Middle with $1,100.00, and the Bartow College and Career Academy with $1,200.00. We will again recognize and pass on the HERO CUP to this year's winners. The deadline for donations will be Tuesday, December 5, 2023.
For some of these children, this is likely the only Christmas gift they will receive. So, thank you in advance for helping to make this Christmas a little extra special for some of our children.
Please contact the BCCCA at 770-606-5182 for more information! We THANK YOU in advance for your support!!!
