BCSS Summer Intervention Program Notice 2024 Through our Professional Learning Communities process, we are committed to all our students' compliance with the identified core standards. Each grade level and collaborative team in the subject area identified the essential standards through a rigorous process. Essential standards are the critical skills, knowledge, and dispositions that each student must acquire because of each course, grade level, and unit of instruction in preparation for the next grade level, related courses, and state assessments. During the year, students received Level I instruction in each essential standard, followed by Level II interventions for students who did not show proficiency after the Common Summative Assessment. To ensure that we meet this commitment that all students meet the proficiency, following the Milestone Assessments (EOG/EOC), all grade levels and subject areas will provide Level II interventions to those students in the core standards where they do not meet the proficiency. Outreach activities (activities in which students extend beyond the essential grade-level curriculum or proficiency levels), will be provided to students who have reached the proficiency level in the essential standards through the last day of school. For students who do not meet proficiency in one of the most essential standards by the last day of school, we require attendance at an in-person Intervention Program this summer. Specifically, elementary and middle school students who have not reached proficiency in all of their core standards in ELA/Reading and Math by the last day of school and high school students who scored between 50 and 64 for their final grade in English, math, science, and social studies. Below you will find specific information about our Summer Intervention Program. Elementary and Secondary School: Kindergarten -8th Tuesday, June 4 – Thursday, June 27 (No Friday sessions) 8:00 AM to 11:30 AM ELA and Math Location: All Schools Lunch and transportation provided High School: 9th – 12th Grade Tuesday, June 4 – Thursday, June 27 (No Friday sessions) Available for English, Math, Science, and Social Studies 8:00 AM to 11:30 AM Location: All Schools Lunch and transportation provided All students and parents/guardians will be notified on or before Friday, May 17th if the student is in danger of not meeting proficiency in one or more standards by the end of the year. Students who qualify for the Summer Intervention will exit the program once they have achieved mastery of the identified essential standards, even if they were completed by June 27th.
