Friday our third grade students had a special visit from Farmer B, a local beekeeper many may know from the Cartersville Farmers Market. He taught us how the environment affects pollinators and shared ways students can help bees right here in our community. Farmer B brought his observation hive so students could see the bees up close — and even treated them to honey sticks! We’re so grateful to Farmer B for bringing our PBL on pollinators to life and inspiring our young learners to protect these important creatures. To learn more about his farm you can find them at @DazzleMountainFarmandApiary

Second grade enjoyed a visit from Etowah Indian Mounds to discuss Native American culture. This fun, informative visit laid the foundation for their next Arts and Letters module that addresses the essential question "How has the American West changed over time?" This also ties into their yearlong STEM PBL question "How has development changed our community over time, and what steps can we take to minimize a negative effect going forward?"
