FALL BREAK

Saturday Preview Days coming to GHC this September and October
Georgia Highlands College (GHC) will host Preview Days this fall semester, with free community events on Saturday, September 21, at the Floyd Campus and on Saturday, October 19, at the Cartersville site.
The Floyd Campus is located at 3175 Cedartown Hwy, Rome, GA 30161 and the Cartersville site is located at 5441 GA-20, Cartersville, GA 30121.
Starting at 10AM and lasting until 2PM, attendees will learn about the student experience directly from GHC students, explore programs of study, will have the opportunity to meet with admissions counselors and apply for enrollment, hear from Financial Aid, enjoy a free lunch and more.
For example, attendees will be able to explore real-life programs such as Criminal Justice, view demonstrations with nursing simulation mannequins, witness a job proposal, tour a film and podcast studio and experience virtual reality.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to tour the campus, apply on the spot, explore a resource fair and attend extra sessions on scholarships, Dual Enrollment and more.
“Friendly people, from students to the president, are what make an institution great,” according to one of last year’s Preview Days attendees. “GHC seems to understand this and I look forward to enrolling and helping others along the way.”
Another stated, “It was an excellent experience. Everyone was very welcoming and full of knowledge and information.“

Bartow County Schools held an Employment Fair on May 3rd at the Bartow County College and Career Academy. Over 100 students from all of our high schools attended the fair to learn about the many local opportunities they have after high school. We were excited to host 18 vendors from business and industry, colleges, and the military. Several students were offered the opportunity to interview for positions and learn about options to help better their future.

Students from the BCCCA participated in the 42nd annual Georgia CTI State Leadership Conference (SLC) held at Rock Eagle 4-H Center from April 17-19, 2024. 600 students from 92 schools across the state competed in 29 career pathways, where over 430 students showcased their creativity and skills. Congratulations to BCCCA and Cass High School senior Ian Wilmot, who won 1st place in the CTI state competition Technology Skills Level 2.

Any BCCCA Dual Enrollment student earning a Technical College Certificate is eligible to participate in the Chattahoochee Tech graduation ceremony. See image below to petition and register: Deadline is April 28th.

BCCCA wanted to encourage our students to be safe as they enter the prom season at their base schools. The Academy, in partnership with local law enforcement, first responders, EMTs, firefighters, and Piedmont Medical, hosted a Prom Promise event Friday. It included a crash scene simulation complete with firetrucks, ambulances and a helicopter. We want our students to not drive under the influence of any substance, be a passenger in a vehicle with a driver who is under the influence, and to not be distracted while driving on the roadways. Instead, we wish our students a safe and memorable prom season. The Bartow County community cares.
