Dear Parents/Guardians,
We hope this message finds you well. We want to inform you about our school's plans for the upcoming solar eclipse on April 8, 2024. This rare event presents a unique and exciting learning opportunity for our students. We are excited students have the opportunity to experience this phenomenon firsthand as we believe that witnessing such natural wonders can greatly enhance their understanding of science and the universe around them.
Safety is our utmost priority during this event. Therefore, we will be providing safety glasses for all students and staff. These glasses must be worn at all times while outside during the full and partial phases of the solar eclipse to protect their eyes from any potential harm. The prime eclipse will happen at approximately 3:05pm
However, we understand that some parents may have concerns about their child participating in outdoor activities during the eclipse. If you do not wish for your student to take part in the eclipse observation activities, please fill out the opt-out form. This form must be completed digitally or submitted to the front office by March 22, 2024. Students who opt-out will be provided with an alternate instructional activity during the eclipse.
Because this event will occur toward the end of the school day, student check outs will need to occur, if necessary, before 2:30.
