Our White Elementary School staff and students want to give a huge shout out to the Cass High School JROTC program. Earlier this Fall, Battalion Commander Parker Dunn approached us about starting a project to help our students with reading. He wanted to create a plan that would provide reading assistance, as well as foster relationship building with our students. He called it the “Big Buddy Project.”
Each Friday approximately 10 – 12 JROTC Buddies come to read, practice sight words, and converse with our students. Teachers are sharing positive stories about the things they are seeing as their Buddy works with their students. We look forward to our continued partnership this school year and are excited about the future as this project grows.
Thank you to all of the students, parents, and grandparents who made our fall book fair a great success! Our Media Center will be able to purchase some amazing books for our students because of your generosity! <3
