This past Friday AMS recognized students who excelled in reading - either through their impressive growth, their achievement, or BOTH! These accomplished students attended our annual Red Carpet Readers event, signed their names to the wall of fame, and took home their trophies! After 2 rigorous auditions, Jordon Goodwin has been accepted into the Georgia Music Educator's Association All State Honor Band. Jordon placed 4th on Percussion in the entire state of Georgia. He will get to rehearse and perform with the All State Band February 29-March 2 in Athens, GA. The AMS Band and Community are very proud of Jordon!

School has been canceled for all students and employees tomorrow, Tuesday, January 16th.

Congratulations to our AMS Red Carpet Readers! These students earned the highest achievement and/or growth on our winter administration of Growth Measure! Students are listed by grade level and will be celebrated on Friday, January 19th. Invitations will be sent, and parents are invited to attend!




Progress Reports were given to AMS students today.

AMS did conduct a fire evacuation today. This was not planned and was due to hvac repair and some resulting smoke, however there was no fire. The situation was quickly neutralized and cleared thanks to efforts by personnel and Bartow Fire Department. Students did great and were back in class quickly.

EYE OF THE TIGER! Give it up for Edson Pierre and Laura Over, our December Eye of the Tiger award recipients! This is presented to our counselor team for their intention and effort, as well as their work that is a vital part of our students' well-being and success!


Students in Miss Freeman's ELA class created their own incentives for Accelerated Reader (AR) points. Caelynn Disbrow earned 200 AR points 2nd nine weeks and gets to be principal for the day! Watch out, Mr. Stanfill. She's coming for your job! Congratulations, Caelynn on this wonderful accomplishment!!


After auditioning, Jordon Goodwin and Jamie Tanksley were selected into this year's Georgia Music Educator's Association 7th District Honor Band. Jamie Tanksley was accepted on Clarinet and Jordon was accepted in Percussion. Jordon received a score of 287/300 and was awarded 1st Chair (the highest score) in the entire district. Also, Jordon will be trying out for the Georgia All State Honor Band in Atlanta on January 6, 2024. Congratulations to these outstanding 8th Grade Band Students.

SHARK TANK. Mr. Cook's Robotics students present creative ideas to Shaw Industries inside the "Shark Tank" room! Big thanks to Shaw reps for providing valuable feedback as we prepare for regional competition in January.
