This scholarship was awarded to a student of a veteran. Avery's dad serves in the Coast Guard.
Join the AHS Reading Initiative! Beanstack is an app that lets students log all of their reading to win prizes and contests against their peers. Students can log not only books, but audiobooks, news articles and blogs, plus anything they read with their classes. The focus is to get our students reading and for them to realize they are reading more than they think!
We will have monthly challenges to inspire reading with incentives. Students can download the app, or they can simply use the app on Classlink on their student computers. It's easy to use and easy to participate in challenges. See Dr. Lena Adams with any questions.
Our annual Purge the Pantry Food Drive will take place next week, November 18-22. Please help make this a success. Students and parents (and community) donations will be made to your first block teachers. This is an intense competition so please join the fun. All contributions and donations will be made to the North Bartow Community Services as well as IMPACT. Thanks for your support!
We are so proud of Mrs.Thompson's Spanish classes for assisting today at Bartow Christmas Coalition. These students translated for non-English speaking families. What a a way to serve our community!
Mr. Langston’s ZooBot class enjoyed a beautiful day at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens as a culminating activity for their Botany Unit. Students were able to enjoy the gardens and see the various plant species and types that they had been studying, as well as observe the natural beauty and diversity of plant life from around the globe.
Please congratulate our Youth Assembly Adairsville Delegation for the Center for Civics Education. These students represented Adairsville well. Savannah Viktora was elected the 81st Youth Assembly Lt. Governor! This is a first for not only Adairsville, but for Bartow as well! She will serve as a state CTSO officer for the GA DOE! Amelia did an AMAZING job singing the National Anthem and served as a house committee chair. Allison Potter was asked to be a committee secretary and even stepped up to fill in for another house committee chair. Savannah Viktora and Hayden Erickson wrote and presented their bills on the house floor. Both bills passed the house, with Hayden’s also passing the senate. Unfortunately, his transportation bill was vetoed by the (YA) Governor. Vivian Reyes worked with the media and was one of the reporters present when the Secretary of State Brad Raffensberger made a press release. Abby Britton and Hayden Erickson were able to add amendments to various bills. Most all students spoke in committee, with Savannah Viktora, Allison Potter, and Hayden Erickson speaking in the chambers.
The students were also able to hear many politicians speak such as House Rep. Matthew Gambill and Speaker of the House Jon Burns to name a few. Rep. Gambill was gracious to take a picture with us and expressed his excitement to see Adairsville High School at Youth Assembly.

**What is Youth Assembly? Students participate in mock committee meetings and procedures. They debate and vote on the bills that they/their fellow delegates have written. The bills go on to the House or Senate then, after a rigorous debate, are brought to the Governor and Lt Governor for a signature or a veto. Approximately, 750 students attended this year.
