MISSION EXPLORATION: Four days of free Bartow County STEM Camp fun wraps up today with special showcases for our parents to enjoy! Many watched their kids master the skills necessary for driving the DJI Spark Drone and experience virtual reality headsets, construct boats, and utilize a real green screen, among many other activities! Thank you to our partners in education, Kona Ice, Georgia Highlands College, Georgia Power, and Sparkles Family Fun Center for making this dream camp a reality for 117 students!

BOARD RECOGNITIONS: A-TEAM AWARD Congratulations, Gwynn Brookshire, Annie Powell, Brandie Smith, and Emily Duggan! This third-grade English language arts collaboration team at Adairsville Elementary School is doing extraordinary work! They are truly changing lives through a sharp focus on learning, collaboration, and results. This is only the fifth Bartow County team to receive the most prestigious award this system has to offer.

NEW: Georgia Bright from the Start approved our application for an additional pre-K classroom at Taylorsville Elementary School! We called those on our waitlist, and all spots are filled! Also, Open House dates will be released next week already! We're gearing up for an amazing 2021-22 school year!

WINNING TITLES: After winning a freestyle state title and placing second in the greco-roman event during the Team Georgia Wrestling state championship, Cass Middle School's Paul Lanier, qualifies to represent Team Georgia at the 2021 national championship this month in Franklin, Indiana!

CLASS ACT: Off the field, these Cass High football players are really showing their character! When some heavy lifting needed to be done recently at CHS, Coach Gates sent a quick group message, and this is what happened! Yes, what could have taken staff members days to do, these Colonels did in hours!

SUMMER INTERVENTION: The first day of our Summer Intervention Program went very well! We are so thankful for the opportunity to provide our elementary and middle school students the support they need to reach proficiency on their identified essential standards! In Bartow County, we have an "our student" approach, just ask all the wonderful administrators, teachers, school nutrition workers, janitors, bus drivers, and the many other employees who make this program run successfully!

SUMMER MEALS: This new Bartow County School System program starts next Tuesday! Please review the information below and tell your neighbor! The Bartow County School System is excited to provide breakfast and lunch this summer at no cost to children under 18. See below for locations and times. No registration necessary. Meals are distributed on a first come, first served basis. Breakfast and lunch meals will be packaged together. Friday's meals will be provided on Thursdays. Additionally, breakfast and lunch meals will be provided to all Bartow County students attending Summer Intervention, STEM Camp, and ESOL Camp. STORY BOOK STROLLIN': Bartow County Schools and Bartow County Parks and Recreation welcomes you to the Manning Mill StoryTrail in Adairsville! StoryTrail is an innovative and delightful way for children and adults to enjoy reading and the outdoors at the same time! Laminated pages from a children's book are attached to wooden podiums, which are installed along an outdoor path by the playground. CENTRAL OFFICE CELEBRATIONS: When you work in a school system and community like this, you have a lot to celebrate! And, if you know Superintendent Page, then you know he likes to celebrate the RIGHT WORK. In the Bartow County School System, the right work supports learning, collaboration, and results. That's what we value. This month, we celebrate and honor Amanda Creel, our secondary instructional technology specialist. Before landing at Central Office, Amanda primarily worked at Adairsville Middle School. While she has had many titles, the one that most accurately describes her is MVP! She has been more than instrumental in helping our distance learning students this year, kick-starting the Bartow Virtual Academy and new website, and helping our district become a MODEL PLC System! Amanda is innovative, positive, and everyone's "go-to" person! Congratulations, Amanda! You make us all better!

During the pandemic, when volunteer counts were low, these individuals stepped up to participate in Read to Grow and helped countless students read! What an impact they made, and we cannot thank them enough!

GUIDING COALITION WORKSHOP: School and System leaders learn about evidence-based grading and reporting practices from Adlai E. Stevenson School District Superintendent Eric Twadell! He comes from a nationally recognized model Professional Learning Communities (PLC) system and brings significant knowledge on grading and other topics!
