The Bartow County School System is incredibly proud to announce that Woodland Middle School has been honored with the prestigious Georgia Department of Education School Nutrition Cafeteria Award of Excellence. This recognition highlights the exceptional efforts of our School Nutrition Manager, April Silver, and her dedicated staff in providing nutritious and delicious meals for our students.
The award was presented this month during a celebration hosted by the Georgia Department of Education School Nutrition Division, where Georgia State School Superintendent Richard Woods and State School Nutrition Director Dr. Linette Dodson recognized the 2024 Cafeteria Award of Excellence recipients. Each winning school received a commemorative banner to proudly display in their cafeterias.
April Silver and her team have demonstrated an unwavering commitment to student wellness through their use of fresh, locally sourced ingredients and innovative meal options. They serve a variety of scratch-cooked items and provide healthy options for staff as well, ensuring that everyone in the school community enjoys nutritious meals.
“Their dedication to preparing meals from scratch and sourcing local ingredients truly sets Woodland Middle apart,” said School Nutrition Operational Specialist Heather Brown. “They go above and beyond to create a dining experience that our students and staff look forward to every day.”
“It’s rewarding to see our hard work recognized,” added School Nutrition Director Betsy Roam. “We love engaging with the community and making sure our students have healthy choices that they enjoy.”
“We take pride in not only feeding our students but also being part of their overall health and happiness,” said School Nutrition Wellness Coordinator Jessica Chandler. “Our participation in community engagement reflects our commitment to fostering strong relationships within our school and beyond.”
Congratulations to April Silver and her entire team for this remarkable achievement. We look forward to recognizing the team at our next school board meeting on October 21, 2024.
