Alan Cook

The Adairsville Middle School family mourns the loss of their beloved “Mr. Cool.”

He resided in classroom number 48, where the hum of drones, VEX robots, and even power tools were commonplace.

“Mr. Alan Cook, our ‘Mr. Cool,’ was the epitome of what it means to be a STEM teacher,” said AMS Science Teacher Summer Glancy. “He loved to see his students figure out experiments and solve them and get excited about what they were learning. He was instrumental in creating a well-known STEM initiative here called Project Bluebird.”

Since 2018, Mr. Cook had served in many integral roles at AMS, including math and science teacher, Robotics coach, and most recently, STEM connections teacher.

For the last several years, Mr. Cook also took the drone photos for the annual Adairsville Pink-Out event, honoring and supporting those in our community affected by cancer.

He was everyone’s “go-to technology guy,” so it was no surprise that he was an automotive technician before he was led to serve his community as an educator.

“He could fix anything, loved everything related to STEM and Pokémon Go, and carried his Rubik’s Cube everywhere,” added Ms. Glancy. “We love him and will miss him.”

Passionate, sweet, and kind are all adjectives our school family uses as they cope with the tremendous loss of “Mr. Cool” – a cherished educator who meant so much to so many Tigers – big and small.
