Bartow County Schools selects its next deputy superintendent.
Christian Suttle will assume the high-level position in June following the retirement of Dr. David Chiprany.
Suttle is an experienced educator and adventurer. He flew with Blue Angels and hiked the Great Wall of China. Now, he is ready to take on his next great adventure in Bartow County.
“I am thankful to Mr. Clint Terza and the Board for entrusting me with this prestigious opportunity to lead and serve in the Bartow County School System,” said Suttle.
Suttle is currently a Cobb County assistant superintendent who will bring more than 24 years of experience to Bartow County. Since 2000, he has enjoyed the roles of third grade teacher, special education teacher, coach, assistant principal, principal, and assistant superintendent in Cobb County.
“From my experiences as an elementary school teacher, high school special education teacher, coach, and administrator in various socioeconomic settings, I have gained a well-rounded perspective on public education,” added Suttle. “Most importantly, my tenure as an assistant superintendent at the elementary and high school levels has empowered me to support the needs of all students to ensure academic success.”
As deputy superintendent, Suttle will oversee Student Learning, Achievement, and Academic Support. That includes but is not limited to Assessment and Accountability, Advanced Learning, Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education (CTAE), English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), Exceptional Education, Federal and State Programs, Instructional Technology, Magnet Programs, Pre-Kindergarten, Teaching and Learning, and Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM).
Suttle found his passion for education while entering college to pursue a career in veterinary medicine or forestry.
“I was allowed to work with a group of young students while taking an Introduction to Education exploration course,” said Suttle. “Surprisingly, I enjoyed the children’s excitement when they learned new things. From there, I was hooked! I decided to major in Elementary Education and help young minds grow and love learning.”
Since then, Suttle, a Dallas resident, earned multiple achievements and certifications in Leadership, Teaching, and Special Education. He has more than 17 years of experience in educational leadership and a proven track record for building and developing successful professional learning communities.
“What an outstanding leader for this critical role in our system,” said incoming Superintendent Clint Terza. “I am exceptionally impressed with his natural ability to build connections and foster collaboration. His work in elevating an already high-performing school shows his strategic leadership and commitment to continuous improvement. We are excited to have him in Bartow County.”
From educator to adventurer, Suttle also enjoys golfing, exercising, and spending time with his wife of 24 years, Cappie, and their children Tatiana, Brennen, Mason and Connor (twins), and Grant.
“I am ready for this new adventure,” said Suttle. “You will soon see me in your school community and beyond, collaborating with our business and faith-based communities to further strengthen the academic foundation and provide world-class opportunities for our children."
