Two Bartow County high school students earn coveted seats in the prestigious Georgia Governor’s Honors Program at Georgia Southern University June 18 – July 15.
Congratulations to Adairsville High School Junior Callie Viktora (Science: Biology) and Cass High School Junior Michelle Lin (World Languages: Chinese).
“I am incredibly proud of our finalists and their admission into the highly selective and prestigious Georgia Governor’s Honors Program,” said Bartow County School System Superintendent Dr. Phillip Page. “Callie Viktora and Michelle Lin, both outstanding students, will attend GHP at Georgia Southern University’s Statesboro Campus this summer. They will be immersed in a collaborative culture with some of the best and brightest students from around the state. The experience will provide academic, cultural, and social enrichment not found in a typical classroom. While Callie studies biology and Michelle examines the Chinese language, both will leave with a deeper understanding of our world and better prepared to help lead the next generation of global thinkers.”
GHP is a summer residential program designed to provide intellectually gifted and artistically talented sophomores and juniors new and challenging educational opportunities.
More than 1,500 semifinalists from across Georgia participated in state interviews this year and approximately 700 students were named finalists.
The program remains fully funded by the Georgia General Assembly.
