About Us

REACH Georgia is a scholarship program started by Governor Nathan Deal to increase students' accessibility to post-secondary education.  Guidance counselors and school staff are given a criteria and select four candidates from each middle school.  These students complete an application and interview with school and business leaders.  The final selection is made at the end of the students' 7th grade year.

In the fall of the students' 8th grade year, there is a Signing Day ceremony where scholars and their parents sign a commitment form agreeing to maintain a 3.0 GPA, attend school regularly, and behave appropriately at school, avoiding drugs and alcohol.  Each student is assigned a mentor that visits them at school twice a month.  The academic coach and coordinator monitor grades and meet regularly with scholars to ensure they are meeting requirements, and to assist in preparing for post-secondary school.

As students progress through high school, mentors and coordinators provide extra support with organization, interview skills, financial aid, and applying for post-secondary school.  The goal of the program is for our students to not only get accepted into a Georgia college, university, or technical school of their choice, but to successfully complete school, prepared to join the workforce.
